faulty parallelism
Items in a pair or a list that do not match in form.
Matched ideas take matched forms. A noun with a noun: the notes and the files. An infinitive with an infinitive: to file and to wait. A gerund with a gerund: filing and waiting. Do not mix those forms in one pair or one list. See also correlative conjunctions and parallelism.
