await / wait
Waiting with a direct object versus waiting with for.
Await takes a direct object and no for: await the verdict. Wait is the general verb: wait, wait for the verdict, wait until noon. Do not use await for. Await is a shade more formal. Wait is the default.
Examples
Use We await the results.
Use We wait for the results.
