author as verb
Whether author may be used as a verb.
The verb author is established: She authored the report. It is not a mistake. Write is still the plainer verb, and often the better one. Use author when you mean produce a work as its author, not when you mean merely write a sentence.
Examples
Use She wrote the report.
Use She authored the 2019 study.
Avoid She authored an email to the staff.
