as to

A phrase often used where about, of, or whether would do.

Prefer about, of, on, or whether. Keep as to when it introduces a real doubt: as to whether the vote will hold. Do not stack as to whether or not.

Examples

Use She asked about the delay.

Avoid She asked as to the delay.

Use There is doubt as to whether the vote will hold.
