agreement with titles and quoted words
The verb after a book title, headline, or word taken as a word.
A title takes a singular verb even when the words inside it look plural: Great Expectations is on the list. “Cats” is still running. A word used as a word is singular: “Mice” is the plural of mouse. Do not let the grammar inside the title govern the sentence around it.
