adventurous / adventuresome / adventuristic

Three adjectives of risk and appetite for risk.

Use adventurous as the ordinary word for a person or act willing to take chances: an adventurous cook, an adventurous route. Adventuresome is a standard variant with the same meaning; it is less common and slightly old-fashioned. Avoid adventuristic in general use. It belongs to political writing, where it often means reckless policy dressed up as boldness, and it sounds invented everywhere else.
